Injecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

Treatment preparation

You must adhere to the following conditions before and after the procedure:

• Get a diagnostic ultrasound in our clinic before the procedure.
• Do not receive cortisone injections less than one month before the procedure.
• Stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs (Advil, Naprosyn, etc.) at least two weeks before the procedure.
• Leave the injection site undisturbed for a period of two weeks. After that, you can go about your daily activities (with some restrictions depending on the injection site). We will provide you with instructions on the day of your procedure. Avoid practicing sports for six weeks after the procedure.
• Avoid taking anti-inflammatory drugs (Advil, Naprosyn, etc.) for two weeks after the procedure.

If any of these conditions are not met, please notify the receptionist immediately.

Treatment procedure

1. The radiologist draws 10 mL of your blood.
2. The blood is centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from the red and white blood cells.
3. The radiologist collects the platelet-rich plasma and then injects it into the area to be treated under local anesthesia.

Fluoroscopy-guided infiltration

No preparation is required before a fluoroscopy-guided infiltration.

Ultrasound-guided infiltration

No preparation is required before an ultrasound-guided infiltration.
