What is a pelvic ultrasound?

Pelvic ultrasounds are used to examine the pelvis, which is the zone underneath the abdominal cavity. For women, pelvic ultrasounds are used to evaluate several organs, including the bladder, uterus and ovaries. For men, they are used to evaluate the bladder and the prostate.
