What is a surface ultrasound?

Surface ultrasounds are used to identify elements discovered by palpation. They are used to obtain images of a specific and limited area and are used to evaluate abscesses, hematomas, edema or ganglions.

No preparation is required before a surface ultrasound. However, it is recommended to avoid the use of creams or perfumes before the examination.
