Medvue Concorde acquires a next-generation MRI
The Siemens MAGNETOM Flow.Elite helps reduce the duration of certain exams, improve patient comfort and expand access to specialized imaging services in Laval.
Medvue Concorde medical imaging clinic has become the first in Quebec to acquire the Siemens MAGNETOM Flow.Elite, a next-generation magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system that integrates artificial intelligence to optimize image acquisition and processing. The new MRI system produces high-quality images while reducing the duration of certain exams, improving patient comfort and expanding the range of specialized services available in Laval, notably through advanced cardiac imaging capabilities and the addition of prostate MRI.
Innovation designed with patient comfort in mind
The MAGNETOM Flow.Elite was designed to make exams more comfortable. Its wider opening provides a more spacious environment, which can be particularly beneficial for patients who are sensitive to confined spaces. The system incorporates DeepResolve, an artificial intelligence-powered technology that helps produce high-quality images while being more tolerant of certain natural movements, such as breathing. This capability can also help reduce the duration of certain exams. Integrated sensors further simplify exam preparation by measuring breathing and heart rate without the need for electrodes in certain situations.
“Artificial intelligence is opening up new possibilities in medical imaging, including allowing us to optimize image acquisition and reconstruction while improving the efficiency of certain exams,” said Dr. Viviane Khoury, MD, FRCPC, musculoskeletal radiologist and Medical Director at Medvue Concorde.
The system’s integrated artificial intelligence helps improve the quality and efficiency of image acquisition, while image interpretation continues to be performed by radiologists, in keeping with standard clinical practice. The arrival of this new system will enable Medvue Concorde to expand its range of services and address a broader spectrum of medical imaging needs.
“For us, this acquisition is first and foremost about enhancing our clinical capabilities. It allows us to expand our MRI offering in Laval with advanced cardiac imaging capabilities and the addition of prostate MRI, while continuing to offer musculoskeletal, neurological, abdominopelvic and thoracic MRI exams. The patient experience remains at the heart of our approach: we want exams to be not only diagnostically effective, but also simple and comfortable for our patients. We are proud to be the first in Quebec to offer this next-generation MRI technology,” added Dr. Viviane Khoury.
Technology with a reduced environmental footprint
The MAGNETOM Flow.Elite also stands out for its energy-efficient design. The system operates with just 0.7 litres of helium, compared with approximately 1,500 litres for conventional systems, significantly reducing the use of this resource. This technology supports a more sustainable approach to medical imaging.
With the arrival of this new MRI system, Medvue Concorde continues its commitment to providing Laval residents with access to advanced medical imaging exams. This Quebec first will expand access to specialized exams in Laval and help move the MRI experience toward a more seamless and efficient model.
